Ciena’s 8114 is a hardened, modular 2.4 Tb/s aggregation router with 400GbE coherent support. As a 2RU high-end aggregator, it flexibly balances 48 ports of 1/10/25GbE SFP28—all of which support Ethernet, eCPRI, and XGS-PON and are 25GS-PON ready—with 6 x 100GbE QSFP28 fixed ports and two 800 Gb/s field-replaceable unit (FRU) modular ports, with a MACsec option. Each modular port can support Ethernet or coherent modules, including the option of 100, 200, and 400 Gb/s coherent WaveLogic™ 5 Nano (WL5n) on QSFP-DD or CFP2-DCO, serving various use cases.
