The optical network of tomorrow must be flexible enough to easily enable on-demand and customizable services, while also providing a path to delivering higher capacity at an ever-reducing cost-per-bit transported. To enable this vision to be realized, new approaches to building optical networks are being considered. This webinar provides an overview of different architectures and approaches for next-generation optical network design including open ROADM, open line systems, open APIs, and fully integrated and converged packet-optical platforms. The benefits and challenges of each approach are explored, and real-life use cases are highlighted.
