Highlighting the benefits of openness, interoperability, and ecosystem relationships

Ciena (NYSE: CIEN), the global leader in high-speed connectivity, will exhibit its latest solutions for better broadband in booth #630 at Fiber Connect 2025, occurring June 1–4 at Nashville’s Gaylord Opryland Convention Center. At the show, Ciena experts will share insights and conduct demonstrations on building and managing broadband access networks for greater flexibility, scalability, and profitability.

Ciena highlights at the event:

Proof-of-Concept (PoC) Demonstration

  • Power of Automation: Leveraging Open Standards to Optimize Carrier Success: As subscriber demand for broadband continues to grow, so does the desire for choice in equipment, services, and even service providers. The PoC demonstrates the power of open standards while leveraging cloud automation, allowing subscribers to choose a provider and service from an online marketplace without operator intervention. This is made possible through interoperability between Ciena’s broadband access solution—including routers and XGS-PON micro optical line terminals (uOLTs) and optical network units (ONUs)—and third-party ONUs and cloud-based OSS/BSS.

Broadband Demonstrations

  • 25GS-PON and XGS-PON on the Same Fiber: Showcasing how operators can utilize Ciena’s broadband solution to seamlessly add 25GS-PON to existing XGS-PON networks to meet growing bandwidth demands as they emerge.
  • Middle-mile and Last-mile Broadband: Exploring how Ciena's expanded broadband portfolio— including ONUs, routers, and uOLTs—offers operators flexible and scalable solutions for building and deploying a mix of broadband services.
  • Managing Broadband Networks: Demonstrating how automation and multi-layer visibility, powered by Ciena’s Navigator Network Control Suite (Navigator NCS) and AI, unlocks operational efficiencies across broadband networks and services.
  • Ciena-Genexis ONU Interoperability (Genexis booth #331): Illustrating the power of open standards, Ciena and its ONU ecosystem partner Genexis demonstrate interoperability between Genexis’ ONUs and Ciena’s PON solution, highlighting their flexibility and ease of use.
