About Monika Fahlbusch
Monika Fahlbusch is Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer at Ciena, leading the company’s global People & Culture organization and ensuring its people strategy remains closely aligned with business priorities and support continued growth. Her focus includes attracting and developing talent, strengthening leadership capabilities, and evolving the employee experience.
Monika brings more than 30 years of global leadership experience across human resources. She has a strong track record of helping high-growth companies scale through talent and organizational transformation, including applying AI, data, and analytics to shape effective people practices. She has built high-performing teams, led complex transformations, and supported significant business growth across the software, media and entertainment, and retail industries.
Prior to joining Ciena, Monika served as Chief People Officer at Epic Games, a leading interactive entertainment company. Previously, she was Chief People Officer at BMC Software and Salesforce.com, and held senior leadership roles at PeopleSoft, Inc. and Gap Inc. She holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration and Economics from Saint Mary’s College of California.
