How long does Ciena retain my Personal Information?
We retain Personal Information we collect from you for as long as we have an ongoing legitimate business need to do so (for example, to provide you with a service you have requested or to comply with applicable legal, tax or accounting requirements). When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your Personal Information, we will either delete or deidentify it or, if this is not possible (for example, because your Personal Information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your Personal Information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible. We will not attempt to re-identify deidentified data.

What Privacy Rights does California Law Recognize?
Under California law, the following rights relating to Personal Information are recognized:

  • The right to know what Personal Information the business has collected about the consumer, including:
    • the categories of Personal Information,
    • the categories of sources from which the Personal Information is collected,
    • the business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling, or sharing Personal Information,

  • The right to delete Personal Information that the business has collected from the consumer, subject to certain exceptions;
  • The right to correct inaccurate Personal Information;
  • The right to opt-out of sales or sharing.
  • The right not to receive discriminatory treatment for the exercise of privacy rights conferred by the CCPA.

We will verify and respond to your request consistent with applicable law. We may need to request additional Personal Information from you in order to verify your identity and protect against fraudulent requests.

If you make a request to delete, we may ask you to confirm your request before we delete your Personal Information.

Authorized agents may also submit requests using the contact information above. If you are an authorized agent making a request on a consumer’s behalf: 1) you may be asked to provide proof of the consumer’s authorization and 2) consumers may be asked to verify their identity.
