As Vice President of Global Sales and Business Development for Blue Planet, a division of Ciena, Fabio Medina is responsible for leading the Blue Planet global sales organization to grow its software and professional services business.
Since joining Ciena in 1999, Mr. Medina has held several sales leadership roles dedicated to growing the company’s market share. Prior to joining the Blue Planet team, he served as General Manager and Vice President of Sales for Canada, Latin America, and the Multi-System Operators segment in the Americas. As General Manager and VP of Sales, Mr. Medina was responsible for the overall sales, sales strategy, and the general operation for these three regions with combined revenues of over $500M USD.
Before joining Ciena, Mr. Medina previously worked in sales management positions at Teleglobe International and Sprint International (Global One).
With over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Mr. Medina is passionate about helping customers manage and digitally transform their networks with intelligent automation solutions so that they can accelerate growth opportunities now and in the future. Through exposure to economies of all sizes, markets in different developmental stages, and an ever-increasing competitive environment, he understands the true meaning of value-driven conversations and the importance of producing meaningful outcomes for customers, both internal and external.
Mr. Medina resides in Florida and holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Industrial Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia.
