Ciena's CN 5060 Multiservice Carrier Ethernet Platform offers robust packet services switching and aggregation for Ethernet and existing services supported natively or across the IP/MPLS core using pseudowires.
With the CN 5060, service providers can deploy a very cost-effective and dense packet switching solution in their metro transport and edge aggregation networks. The CN 5060 delivers high-capacity Ethernet and IP/MPLS functionality and supports traditional services such as TDM, ATM, and Frame Relay (FR)— allowing service providers to facilitate the convergence of new and existing services and networks onto their new generation of residential broadband, business data services, and mobile wireless infrastructures.
THE COST-EFFECTIVE AND SCALABLE CN 5060 DELIVERS SIX-9S RELIABILITY for all services including Ethernet, and enables in-service software upgrades and downgrades without disruption. Industry-leading scalability—via Ethernet and existing services port counts, Pseudowire Emulation Edgeto- Edge (PWE3), Ethernet Virtual Connection (EVC), and Label-Switched Path (LSP) connection densities— accommodates high-growth new services and large installed bases of traditional services. The product’s compact design minimizes space and power requirements by consolidating a wide variety of packet service aggregation requirements onto a single chassis while delivering 60 Gb/s of high-capacity, fullduplex switching scalable in 2.5 Gb/s increments.
THE CN 5060 ENABLES NEW-GENERATION CARRIER ETHERNET AND IP/MPLS NETWORKS and provides a solution that addresses the full suite of Layer 1 and Layer 2 services. Now, service providers can improve the economics, reliability and reach of their new Ethernet and IP services. In addition, the CN 5060’s multiservice pseudowires facilitate convergence and enable the migration of TDM, ATM, and FR services to a packet infrastructure.
In order to maximize the flexibility of service providers’ offerings, the CN 5060 has both Ethernet and MPLS control planes and delivers a wide range of interface options from DS0 to 10GbE. The platform provides efficient packet service aggregation while supporting traditional TDM services via TDM over Packet standards and ATM and FR switching, either natively or over MPLS pseudowires.
The CN 5060 addresses the requirements of Triple Play aggregation, business data services and fixed/ mobile convergence applications including:
- Layer 2 MPLS VPNs using pseudowires with any-to-any Ethernet interworking
- TDM over Packet for migration of traditional leased line services to a packet-based infrastructure
