ON-Center Core Transport Manager (CTM) is a module of Ciena's ON-Center Network and Service Management Suite. The ON-Center suite is Ciena's data-efficient, end-to-end network management system. The CTM software is an Element Management System (EMS) that monitors and manages both the CoreStream Agility, and FlexSelect 40G Shelf.

The CTM software builds on the embedded intelligence of Ciena's FlexSelect OS to identify and resolve problems in the Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) long-haul transport network. It delivers detailed network, span, node, and wavelength management from a single interface.

The CTM software minimizes operational maintenance with intelligent fault management and intuitive interfaces. It is accessible directly from the ON-Center suite control panel. It provides visual access to the network database via a Graphical User Interface (GUI), which may be deployed as a standalone application. The ON-Center GUI applications are designed for multiplatform interoperability. They currently support platforms for Sun Solaris™-based UNIX® systems and Microsoft Windows NT® and Windows® 2000-based personal computers.

The CTM software supports event, performance, and configuration management capabilities. The event management feature correlates status information at the Network Element (NE) and span levels, as well as isolates faults to a single circuit pack. It continuously monitors the core transport network from a single location, such as a central office.

The performance management feature receives and displays SONET/SDH standard performance measurements, as well as key operating attributes for span components. It also displays customized graphs that illustrate performance trends over specific timeframes.

The configuration management feature downloads and uploads configurations to NEs, as well as EMS components, such as partitions, servers, and subnetworks.
