ON-Center Metro Transport Manager (MTM) is an element/subnetwork management system, enabling centralized monitoring and control of Ciena's ONLINE Metro™ Multiservice DWDM Platform and the CN 2600™ Multiservice Edge Aggregator.

A module of ON-Center Network and Service Management Suite, MTM provides simple, integrated management capabilities for both wavelength and bandwidth services, which are supported by the ONLINE Metro and CN 2600.  MTM features point-and-click provisioning, enabling the rapid delivery of services in the MAN, while effectively managing network functionality via a single management client console.

MTM is comprised of three components: the database; the server software; and the client application.  The database maintains detailed current and historical information about the state of the network.  The server software manages network information obtained from the ONLINE Metro and CN 2600 NEs.  The client application provides a simple GUI with online guides and automated templates to streamline both service provisioning and access of stored data.

MTM offers automated discovery and topology views of the MAN, allowing users to easily visualize the network configuration and services.  Its performance monitoring capabilities deliver real-time statistics and reports on the activity of the ONLINE Metro and CN 2600 NEs, while the configuration management features enable pre-configured, plug-and-play functionality.  MTM delivers MAN management and monitoring with the data-optimized reliability and maximum network availability service providers and large enterprises require.
