CIENA Liberates the Network From Legacy Constraints

Join the Fight for Independence at Booth No. 7739

Visitors to the SuperComm '99 trade show, from June 7-10 in Atlanta's Georgia World Congress Center, will see Ciena Corporation's (NASDAQ: CIEN) products and systems demonstrating a complete Intelligent Optical Network based on Ciena's LightWorks Architecture(TM).

As part of Ciena's commitment to open architectures that liberate carrier networks from legacy constraints, the LightWorks Architecture is a blueprint for designing networks for greater scalability, real-time provisioning, fast and efficient survivability and with the lowest lifecycle costs. Products to be demonstrated in live network applications in Ciena's main booth, No. 7739, include MultiWave Sentry(TM) 4000, MultiWave Metro(TM), MultiWave CoreStream(TM), MultiWave CoreDirector(TM), WaveWatcher®, Omnia Communication's AXR-500, and the Cisco GSR 12000.

Ciena will also present ``The Ciena Optical University,'' a series of lectures about the latest trends in optical networking at booth No. 8627. Presenters representing carriers such as Enron Communications, Williams Communications, iaxis Limited and Crosswave Communications; analysts from Forrester Research, The Aberdeen Group and Current Analysis; and Ciena scientists and engineers will be conducting short presentations on relevant topics.
