Ciena Appoints Sales Director to Drive Growth in Spain and Portugal

Ciena® Corporation (Nasdaq: CIEN), the network specialist, today announced the appointment of Vicente Arroyo to the position of area sales director for Spain and Portugal.

Arroyo, 38, will be responsible for Ciena’s direct sales in the region in addition to developing an indirect model through the appointment of channel partners. He brings to Ciena more than 15 years of experience in the telecommunications and networking sector, including international roles with Avaya Communications, Enterasys Networks and NBase-Xyplex.

Eric Sèle, Ciena’s regional general manager for Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa, to whom Arroyo will report, describes the appointment of a dedicated sales director for the region as confirmation of market potential.

“In executing a growth strategy in Europe, the consideration of Spain and Portugal as major actors in both the operator and enterprise market segments is a must,” says Sèle. “Vicente Arroyo brings a wealth of experience and local knowledge to this role, which is certain to drive growth for Ciena across the region.”
