- An integrated Ciena LightWorks network architecture including both Ciena and ONI products. 10Gbps will run across the network from the metro area to the long-haul point-of-presence. The 10Gbps wavelength will begin at a data center via ONI’s ONLINE7000, to Ciena’s MetroDirector K2™ intelligent metro switch, to Ciena’s MultiWave™ Metro transport product, to Ciena’s CoreDirector™ intelligent core optical switch, to Ciena’s CoreStream™ long-haul transport platform;
- An integrated metro network. This demo is comprised of services transported across ONI’s ONLINE2500 and ONLINE7000, switched through Ciena’s MetroDirector K2 and MultiWave Metro transport platform;
- Interoperability of the service grooming and aggregation capabilities across the integrated metro portfolio, including the MetroDirector K2 with ONI’s ONLINE™ transport and ONWAVE™ multiplexing families; and
- Storage Area Networks (SANs) within a metro network. ESCON and 2-Gig Fiber Channel (FC) services between a campus and a data center. The ESCON services are carried using the ONLINE7000 ring and the 2-Gig FC is carried on a ring with ONLINE7000 and ONLINE2500 products.
In addition, Ciena will demonstrate CoreDirector XL (CDXL), the highly scalable version of its CoreDirector intelligent core optical switch. In the booth, Ciena will show a three-bay CDXL, demonstrating the ability of the efficient, economical scalability of CoreDirector.
