CIENA TO DEMONSTRATE LIGHTWORKS SERVICES AT SUPERCOMM 2003
Company to Show Cost-Saving Benefits of its Network Solutions
Linthicum, MD — 05/27/2003Ciena® Corporation (NASDAQ: CIEN), a leading provider of global network solutions, today announced that visitors to its SUPERCOMM 2003 booth (#10641) will see demonstrations that highlight Ciena’s portfolio of innovative network solutions that help carriers use their existing network infrastructure to increase the efficiency of current services and to create new revenue-generating opportunities. In addition, Ciena will highlight the expected network benefits of the Company’s pending merger with WaveSmith Networks® and existing partnership with Équipe Communications™. Ciena also will host Optical University seminars to discuss the next phase of network evolution with a focus on improving network economics.
SUPERCOMM 2003, the premier annual communications infrastructure exhibition and conference, will take place at Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center from June 1-5, with Ciena’s demonstrations being held from June 3-5. The exhibition hours are Tuesday, June 3 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Wednesday, June 4 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; and Thursday, June 5 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Ciena will hold several network and services demonstrations in Booth #10641, including those showcasing interoperability between Ciena, WaveSmith and Équipe products working within Ciena’s LightWorks™ architecture. Scheduled demonstrations include:
- End-to-end provisioning of an OC-12/STM-4 circuit from the LightWorks ON-Center® Network Management Suite across the WaveSmith DN 4100®, ONLINE Edge™, ONLINE Metro™, Équipe 3200™, CoreDirector® and CoreStream™ platforms and back to the WaveSmith DN 4100.
- Service Level Agreement (SLA) management of an OC-48/STM-16 circuit from the LightWorks Service Level Manager across the ONLINE Edge, ONLINE Metro, CoreDirector, CoreStream and back to the ONLINE Edge.
- 10/100 Ethernet transported across the WaveSmith DN 7100™, ONLINE Edge, ONLINE Metro, Équipe 3200, CoreDirector, CoreStream and terminated on MetroDirector K2™ 10/100 Ethernet.
- ONLINE Edge Storage Area Network (SAN) extension transporting Fibre Channel traffic across the CoreStream long-haul DWDM system.
- WaveSmith ATM Private Network-to-Network Interface (PNNI) and ATM/MPLS functionality interworking with the Équipe 3200 platform as well as Label Switch Routing across the Équipe 3200 MPLS core.
- LightWorks ON-Designer network planning tool for the ONLINE Edge, ONLINE Metro, CoreDirector, MultiWave Metro®, MultiWave Sentry® and CoreStream products.
