CIENA CORPORATION ANNOUNCES REPORTING DATE AND CONFERENCE CALL FOR FISCAL 2003 FIRST QUARTER

Ciena Corporation (NASDAQ: CIEN) will announce results for its fiscal 2003 first quarter on Thursday, February 20, 2003, via Business Wire and First Call before the open of the financial markets.
