Verizon Business is delivering its first highly-resilient mesh network based on Ciena CoreDirector® Multiservice Optical Switches across its terrestrial and undersea cable network to offer unsurpassed reliability to multinational business and government customers.

In addition, MCI, now Verizon Business, previously selected Ciena as a strategic supplier for its new nationwide, ultra long-haul (ULH) network, deploying Ciena's CoreStream™ platform for integrated optical transport and switching.

Previously, MCI, Ciena and Mintera Corporation announced they had achieved the world's fastest Ultra Long-Haul (ULH) connection at 40 Gigabits Per Second (Gbps) - four times faster than the highest-speed ULH routes deployed before 2004.
