Ciena & ALS "Celebration of Life" Golf Tournament

On June 7, 2007, Ciena's Ottawa office held its 7th annual Ciena & ALS "Celebration of Life" Golf Tournament.  Ciena has been the host, primary sponsor and organizer of this community event since its inception. This fundraiser has now become recognized as one of the most successful in the Ottawa area, and over the last seven years approximately $400,000 has been collected and used for families of ALS patients.

What is ALS?
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's disease," is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that is characterized by degeneration of nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. This loss of motor neurons leads to progressive paralysis of the voluntary muscles.
