Rick Dodd is currently Ciena’s Chief of Open Architecture. In this role, he is responsible for focusing on further defining, driving, and evangelizing Ciena’s OPn Network Architecture and Open Architecture principles and practices.
Before rejoining Ciena in December 2010, Mr. Dodd served as both Vice President of Corporate Marketing and earlier as Vice President of Product Marketing for Infinera. Prior to Infinera, he was an Associate Partner at venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield and Byers, where he was focused on networking and semiconductor startups and played a key role in KPCB’s founding investment in Infinera. Earlier, Mr. Dodd was Director of Strategic Marketing at Ciena, which he joined through the company’s acquisition of Lightera Networks, where he served as Director of Product Management. At the start of his career, he was in product management at Cisco Systems and held engineering and sales roles at WilTel.
Mr. Dodd holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Brown University and a M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
